Understory has developed its own distributed weather stations to measure weather conditions on the ground on a granular level. They can tell you details around wind, rain, hail and other weather data. And their sensors have no moving parts.

For example, they can tell you how many hail stones hit a city (yes, it can be in the trillions). I know, crazy. That data leads to valuable analytics for an insurance company determining the damage to the properties they’ve insured after a storm.
